Trump Calls for Death Penalty for Migrants in Anti-Immigration Rally
Donald Trump has intensified his anti-immigration stance during a rally in Aurora, Colorado, USA by labeling migrants as dangerous criminals, suggesting the d£ath penalty for those who kill U.S. citizens.
In an event where he stood next to posters of alleged members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, Trump vowed to launch a national "Operation Aurora" to target gang members if elected.
The US Republican presidential candidate has significantly toughened his anti-immigration rhetoric leading up to the November 5 election campaign, where he seeks victory over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
"I'm calling for the d€ath penalty for any migrant who takes the life of an American citizen or a law enforcement officer," Trump declared, cheered on by his supporters.
Trump has also put forward plans to broaden the scope of the d€ath penalty to include individuals convicted of crimes such as s£x trafficking of women and children.
While the federal d€ath penalty exists, it is seldom implemented, as reported by the Death Penalty Information Center, a non-profit organization.
Any expansion of the range of crimes punishable by d€ath would necessitate action by the U.S. Congress.
