Juventus in Talks with Paul Pogba to End Contract Early Amid CAS Decision on Banned Substance Test
Juventus midfielder, Paul Pogba is in discussions with the club to end his contract early.
His current contract was supposed to run until June 2026, but the 31-year-old player is likely to come to a mutual agreement with Juventus to terminate it, as per a report in the Daily Mail.
Pogba got into trouble after a dope test showed he had used a banned substance called DHEA during a match against Udinese in August 2023. Following his failed test, Pogba's management team took the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
The CAS recently announced a decision in favor of Pogba, reducing his ban from four years to 18 months. This means he can resume training in January 2025 and his original fine has been waived.
Despite this ruling, Juventus coach Thiago Motta mentioned that the club has not yet made a decision about Pogba's future with the team.
Motta stated that Pogba was an excellent player but hasn't been in action for a while. He emphasized that his focus is on upcoming matches, leaving the decision about Pogba's status to the club.
The final word on Pogba's appeal is expected to come from the CAS on Monday.
