Aliko Dangote promises Nigerians that their vehicles will have longer lifespans without engine problems as his refinery launches its initial petroleum products.

The Dangote Refinery in Lagos has started producing its first Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from its large facility that can process 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Aliko Dangote, the owner of the refinery and a wealthy businessman, shared this news during a press conference in Lagos state on September 3.

Dangote assured Nigerians that the petrol produced by the refinery will be of high quality, making engines last longer and reducing common engine issues. He also emphasized that the quality of their petrol will be on par with global standards.

Dangote mentioned that once they finalize arrangements with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), their petrol will be made available to the public. He highlighted the positive impact this production will have on various sectors, including industry and manufacturing, by contributing to import substitution, saving foreign exchange, stabilizing the naira, reducing inflation, and lowering the cost of living.

Last year, Dangote's $20 billion refinery in Lagos began operations at a reduced capacity of 350,000 barrels per day due to regulatory challenges. However, the refinery aims to reach its maximum capacity of 650,000 barrels per day by the end of this year.

Additionally, the refinery has started supplying diesel and aviation fuel to marketers in Nigeria, further expanding their reach in the market.
